For the third week in a row, gas prices have increased in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Public Utilities Board, which regulates prices for gas, diesel and home-heating fuel, allowed retailers to raise the maximum price on gasoline by 2.9 or 3.0 cents per litre. The difference is due to rounding for HST in different pricing zones in the province.
The change means that consumers are paying just over five cents per litre for gas than they were at the beginning of the month.
On the Avalon Peninsula, where prices are cheapest, a litre of self-serve unleaded gas can sell for no more than $1.159.
Gas prices in the province are about six cents higher than they were a year ago at this time.
The PUB also allowed a hike on diesel fuel by 0.4 or 0.5 cents per litre.
Furnace oil, meanwhile, is up 0.57 cents per litre, while propane is up by 0.2 cents per litre and stove oil is up 0.42 cents per litre.
Comment by GreenGas77: It’s frustrating to people all over the world that government supposedly to protect and help th people of their countries are so powerless, or not willing to do anything to stop these crooks. A relatively few people getting filthy rich at the expense of the masses by playing with numbers is sickening. In this case the price of Crude Oil.
